A man was shot today and, most probably, liberal author D. Watkins is celebrating. Why? Because the man was licensed to carry a concealed weapon and was wounded by a mugger who had his own gun.
According to the D-Man, those in favor of guns are the moral equivalent to slave owners and “If you love guns, if they make you feel safe, if you hold and cuddle with them at night, then you need to be shot. You need to feel a bullet rip through your flesh, and if you survive and enjoy the feeling—then the right to bear arms will be all yours.”
So, we feel pretty safe in presuming that Mr. Watkins is ecstatic that his dreams of violence against the law-abiding.
Of course, D-Bag…er…D-Man is probably also very sad. That same gun owner, so justifiably shot for the crime of owning a gun, also discharged his weapon, shooting and killing Armaj Craig, 20, of Mineapolis; an obviously troubled young man who should have been afforded the chance to turn his life around, rather than be killed in cold-blood just for demanding that the gun-fondling redneck redistribute some of his wealth to him.
Somehow, we here at Interritus, don’t believe that the law-abiding deserve violence to be done to them, simply to assuage some liberal sense of “justice”.
We believe in actual justice. And while it would have been preferable for Mr. Craig to be tried in a court of law (probably to be slapped on the wrist and let loose among the law-abiding again….again), we do not have a problem with the adage “Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes”.
In this case, for his actual crime of mugging a law-abiding citizen IN HIS OWN DRIVEWAY, Mr. Craig got more or less what he deserved. It is said that those who live by the sword shall perish by it. The same applies to those who would commit violent crimes, regardless of their alleged “justification”.
We feel for Mr. Craig’s family. But we feel worse for the permit-holder who was forced to take action to defend himself after sustaining an armed attack on his person in a place where he should have been safe.
Mr. Craig is dead. He will not have to deal with the consequences of his actions. The permit-holder survived and will definitely have to deal with the consequences of Mr. Craig’s actions. He will need counseling, therapy, legal defense for when Mr. Craig’s survivors sue.
And they WILL sue. It’s a rare defensive shooting that doesn’t see some shyster lawyer approaching the family talking about how much they’re owed from the shooter for Mr. Craig’s negligent, accidental death on the shooter’s property, hoping that the shooter will cave just to avoid the expense of a lawsuit.
